Bailey and Jon's Adventurous Engagement Session in Zion National Park | Springdale, Utah
Updated: Aug 7
I first visited Zion National Park on my husband Dave and I's 2022 road trip through all of the national parks in Utah. Of all of the beautiful places we saw, Zion held a particular piece of my heart. I left Salt Lake City with a stamp tattoo of Zion's mountain range! Needless to say I have been dying to visit again. When Dave and I decided we would be celebrating the one year wedding anniversary in Arizona we knew this was our chance to make it happen.
With 9 days in the southwest I decided to try to plan some photoshoots in the various destinations we were visiting: The Grand Canyon, Zion National Park, Lake Powell, Horseshoe Bend, and the Petrified Forest. The problem? These beautifully scenic areas are also very remote and have small populations. My model search for weeks leading up to the trip proved to sadly be a fruitless effort. That was until one week prior to our trip when Bailey reached out about modeling with her fiance Jon. They lived just two hours from Zion in Nevada and had been eager to take engagement photos, they were more than happy to travel out! Of all of the possible locations that could've worked out for a photoshoot I was especially happy it was Zion.
After a few days of wardrobe and location planning I drove up from the Grand Canyon and met these two for their adventurous engagement session through some of Zion's most popular trails at sunset. We started at the Pa'Rus Trail where we were met with beautiful shade and blue water before making our way up to the Canyon Overlook Trail. Bailey and Jon were troopers meticulously climbing to the overlook in their not-so-hiking-friendly attire and were met with many congratulations from passing hikers. The trail was perfect for its short distance and incredible views over the park. We finished just as the sun set over the park at 8:00 and made our way down to Springdale for some celebratory dinner and drinks. A gorgeous day.
